Wine! In a bag! Or a Bagnum, as it’s known, given that it holds a magnum’s worth of wine (1.5l, equivalent to two bottles). And it’s not just drinkable wine. It’s really drinkable wine, sourced by an Australian winemaker called Andrew Nielsen who happens to like finding good stuff in Burgundy to put in wine bags. Doing so reduces the carbon footprint by a staggering 80% compared with glass. Andrew makes lots of other smart wines in normal bottles too, but these bagnums are a game-changer. Check www.legrappin.com for stockists; luckily for me, my brilliant local independent wine shop stocks them. This one’s made from good quality Chardonnay grapes grown across the Macon-Villages appellation. Fresh with ripe melon flavours, it’s spot on.
