Garnacha is one of Spain’s main grapes but what makes it really special in this case is that it comes from really old vines. Some of them are almost 100 years old and the vineyards, in the Aragon region of Calatayud, are high at over 1000 metres (I’m giving you figures, just in case your dad asks you). This means the growing season is long, which in turn means the grapes are incredibly concentrated with flavour by the time they’re ready to be turned into wine. Normally £9.99, this is on offer until the end of the month. An absolute bargain for a super smart, rich, mellow, juicy red with real character. Will love a leg of roast lamb.

Perfectly pitched (ok, it took four goes to write that.. but I was on my fourth glass…).
