Beaujolais Nouveau, the first French wine from the new vintage to hit our shelves, used to be a bit of an event back in the 70s & 80s. Then it got naff; quality and sales dwindled to almost nothing. But it’s definitely back – and with a whole new attitude. This one’s really well made, full of juicy, just-squashed berry fruit flavours. Amazing to think the Gamay grapes that made this were hanging out on the vine just a few months ago. Perfect with a bowl of smoky bacon crisps.
