Pinotage is the love-child of the Pinot Noir and Cinsaut grapes and is one of South Africa’s most distinctive reds. I say distinctive, but for some it’s more marmite in a love-it-or-hate-it kind of way. But this one’s pretty impossible not to love with its earthy black fruits, generous sprinkle of spice and alcohol that bear hugs your throat. If you haven’t tried this grape before, this one’s a great place to start. Needs food, fyi.
