Tesco Finest* Vina del Cura Rioja Gran Reserva

To get a wine this well made, and aged for so long, for a tenner? Honestly, it’s a steal. Made from the Tempranillo grape by respected producer Baron de Ley, it’s smoky, oaky and smooth with mellow dark cherry fruit flavours. Put a leg of lamb in the oven, covered in foil, and slow cook it for four hours. The mellowness of the wine matches that same mellow flavour of the meat beautifully. Definitely worth the wait.

    I ❤️ your blog… Just sayin’

I’m not normally in Tesco so when I do hit the shop I tend to quickly open up your blog and search for the recent recommendations.
I bought this a few months ago and I have to say I’m not a Rioja fan, it was purely purchased down to your recommendation . I went to buy the finest GSM, my usual tipple ( and that was a beauty) so this was a bit if a punt.
Well Mr J turned up his nose and this went into the Wine for cooking box and has stayed for probably 6 months at least.
I’ve opened this tonight for a 250ml shot into a family favourite beautiful Chicken Parmigiana ( I can share the recipe if any one wishes). This is being cooked tonight to mark the start of the horrendous exam season. Good luck everyone!
I always just take a taste of the wine before it goes in, just to ensure nothing has turned bad before it ruins the meal and guess what……

Well, this a revelation, it’s a sumptuous summer super red sizzler. Soft plummy. Gentle ripeness. Lively and fresh with soft enjoyable tannins that make me feel i need just one more taste. A winner winner Chicken Dinner!
