Packs a punch, this one. When stateside, this grape goes under the name of Zinfandel. But as ever, everything sounds better in Italian. From Puglia’s Salento region, this is earthy in a good way. Think baked plum and blackcurrant fruits with a liberal sprinkling of spice. Needs food – really good with tomato-y pasta.

I agree, you need to have this with food, just as you need vinegar on chips. Undrinkable on its own. Probably the worst I have tasted. Think cheap rubbish.
Hi Gary, sorry to hear you didn’t like it. This particular review is quite old so definitely not the same wine but I’ll try it again asap to see what it’s like nowadays.
