Watching Hugh Johnson's series 'Vintage' helped me with tasting wine. Hugh suggests sniffing for a good five seconds and "knocking it about" in your mouth for a full 5 secs also. Before that I had been following a friends advice of doing little 'bunny-sniffs' – the constant 5 secs works better for me.
Hi nice to meet you. Jody here, came through Nappy Valley Mum. (Kiwi, used to live in London, now Oakland) What a brilliant idea this is – always up for a good wine tasting. Also like Vinogirl's comments, never know what is right technique for tasting (besides of course the Kiwi down the gullet technique that I usually employ on a Friday night!)
Hels darling – you are setting yourself up nicely to be the new "Nigella" of wine – love it…..Lotty
Vinogirl – you are quite right, five secs is about what I do. About to embark on two weeks of IWC judging week after next, preparing myself! Would love to taste your wines one day.
Jody – hi! Ooh, I love NVG's blog. It was one of the first I ever found and have been a regular reader ever since. Really pleased you like the blog. Off to find you back.
Lotty – ha ha! I wish…wouldn't mind her kitchen, at the very least…x
Another BRILLIANT vlog. You're a natural!
Claire – thanks awfully, will email dates for our REAL food/wine matching plan…
