I Heart Yasmin

Love her.

Look at her. I mean, really. Yasmin Le Bon looks GORGEOUS. Once, my most prized possession was my Duran Duran ‘Seven & The Ragged Tiger’ t-shirt which sported her husband Simon on the front. Unsurprisingly, my days of wearing rock band t-shirts are over but I have been wearing some clothes from Winser London recently, as modelled here by Yasmin. And now, the good people behind Winser London, the online luxury fashion brand launched in February 2013, are offering KMWC readers the chance to win £150 worth of gift vouchers and the opportunity to be styled by the Winser London stylist. To enter click here: http://www.winserlondon.com/newsletter

Enter your email address followed by selecting ‘Knackered Mothers’ in the drop down box. A winner of the £150 Winser London gift vouchers will then be selected and announced on 14th July 2013 via their newsletter. Usual T&C’s apply. Hope that’s all clear. And now to wine.

Current sparkling in the fridge: Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut Cava, £6.66 on offer (normally £9.99), Tesco
Brought round to ours by my sister-in-law & her husband for for drinks before we headed off to a party last Saturday (what’s known as pre-loading, I believe. Although somewhat more civilised than White Lightening). So it was we had a very chilled glass in the garden, with nothing more than a bowl of olives and various children in pyjamas for company. With the unmistakeable black bottle, this has got a great throwback feel going on. It really is a completely dependable Cava, full of lemon fruit and gentle on the bubbles. Made from a blend of traditional grapes including Macabeo, Parellada and Xarel-lo, it is my wine equivalent of Ferrero Rocher. And I love a Ferrero Rocher from time to time.

Current rose in the rack: Toro Loco Rose 2012, £3.69, Aldi
I did a mammoth tasting last week of about 40 rose wines for a newspaper taste test and this one was the winner of ‘best bargain’ award. Now, with duty & VAT being over £2 per bottle, this means the wine is worth pennies. And I’m not in the habit of telling you to buy wines under £4 because the majority of them, IMHO, are not worth it. But what we’re left with here is an unbelievably good value rose made from the unusual and really brightly coloured Bobal grape in the Utiel-Requena region of Spain. And it tastes of cherries! Really lovely, juicy cherries in liquid (alcoholic) form. A properly good bargain that doesn’t leave a bad taste in the mouth.

Chin chin x

  1. Off to have a look into that Rose – but 40??? 40??? wow!

  2. I love a bit of Cava: Very rarely have it but did have a few glasses last night!

  3. OMG I have just ordered £600 worth of Winser clothes – what a fab website – heavenly Sunday morning – reading about wine (drank too much at a 40th last night though) and internet shopping – luckily the big guy is still asleep upstairs!

  4. Great site – sadly just sent the whole lot back! I am quite plainly not as Yasmin like as I'd like!!!!

  5. I rate Tesco Cava and, funnily enough, was going to (shyly) ask you about it. Glad to have your approval 🙂
